JAMMU, June 29: Continuing his remarkable run on the national and international stage, Asian gold medallist Mohammad Yasser from Rajouri has once again brought glory to Jammu and Kashmir by winning the gold medal in the 5th Under-15 Sub Junior Boys’ National Boxing Championship 2026.Travel Guides & Travelogues
The prestigious championship was held in Jalandhar, Punjab, from June 23 to 29, where the 14-year-old pugilist emerged as the champion in the 58 kg weight category after an outstanding unbeaten campaign.
Yasser began his title march with a 4-1 victory over his opponent from Telangana in the opening bout. He then registered back-to-back 5-0 wins against boxers from Rajasthan and Manipur in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. In the final, he produced another dominant performance to defeat his rival from Delhi by a unanimous 5-0 decision, clinching the national crown in emphatic fashion.
The latest triumph comes just weeks after Yasser scripted history by winning the gold medal in the 58 kg category at the Under-15 Asian Boxing Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in May. His stellar performance at the continental event earned widespread acclaim and established him as one of India’s brightest young boxing prospects.
Yasser’s successive international and national titles have brought immense pride to Rajouri and the entire Jammu and Kashmir, with sports enthusiasts and officials hailing his achievements as an inspiration for aspiring young athletes across the Union Territory.
