RAJOURI: In a major breakthrough against the terror ecosystem operating in the Pir Panjal region, Rajouri Police have busted an alleged Over Ground Worker (OGW) network linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and arrested three persons, officials said.
Police said the investigation further indicated that the accused allegedly acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards the Kashmir Valley. They are also suspected of providing ground support to terrorists linked with multiple high-profile attacks, including an attack targeting civilians.
According to information released by the Rajouri Police, the three arrested individuals are all residents of the Rajouri district:
Zakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain (Resident of Kotcharwal Teryath)
Mohammad Azam, son of Ali Bahadur (Resident of Kotcharwal Teryath)
Mohammad Mushtaq, son of Mohd Iqbal (Resident of Udhan)
During the investigation, an IED was recovered following the disclosure of one of the accused, police said. Preliminary findings indicate that the device had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and possible use in a targeted attack.
Rajouri Police said the investigation is continuing to establish the wider network, identify additional associates and ascertain the full extent of the accused persons’ alleged involvement. Further investigation is in progress.
