JKHCBAJ expresses concern over books glorifying terrorists and separatists; appreciates prompt action taken by the Administration

Jammu, 10-07-2026 (Friday): In a press statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (Regd.), Jammu (JKHCBAJ), the Association expressed its deep concern over the recent discovery of books in Government school libraries allegedly containing material that glorifies terrorists and separatists and promotes narratives prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India. Such content has no place in educational institutions entrusted with shaping the minds of young students, said the President of the Association, K. Nirmal Kotwal.

The JKHCBAJ noted and appreciated the prompt action taken by the Administration, including the immediate withdrawal of the controversial books from school libraries, the suspension of eight officials of the School Education Department, the initiation of a departmental inquiry, the registration of an FIR, and searches conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Office Bearers of the JKHCBAJ, including Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan, and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal, collectively appreciated these measures and urged the authorities to ensure a transparent and time bound investigation, fix responsibility for the lapse, and strengthen the scrutiny mechanism for educational material so that no content undermining national unity, constitutional values, or public order finds its way into educational institutions in the future.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (Regd.), Jammu reiterates its unwavering commitment to the Constitution of India, the rule of law, and the protection of the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the nation.
