JAMMU: Police Station Arnia has arrested six alleged members of the Khouf Gang in connection with a reported threat and firing attempt involving a local resident in the Kool Kalan area on September 3. Police have also recovered three pistols with magazines, six live rounds and five tokkas from the accused, officials said.
According to police, the six accused, all residents of Bishnah, allegedly threatened Ashwani Kumar at Kool Kalan on September 3 while displaying firearms and tokkas. The incident was reported to police following which an investigation was initiated.
Police subsequently apprehended all six accused on Monday. A case was registered at Police Station Arnia under relevant stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. However, the exact FIR number was not disclosed in the initial press release issued by Jammu Police.
During the course of the arrests, police recovered three pistols along with magazines, six live rounds and five tokkas from the possession of the accused.
Police said further investigation is underway to establish the alleged involvement of the accused in the reported incident and to ascertain whether they have any links to other criminal activities.
The arrests and recovery are part of the ongoing police crackdown against criminal elements and gangs operating in the Jammu region, police said.
